Yasiel Puig Helps Mets Turn First Triple Play in 4 Years

In the bottom of the sixth inning, as the Los Angeles Dodgers hosted the New York Mets, the Dodgers had runners on first and second with no outs and Matt Kemp at the plate. Kemp hit a ground ball to Mets third baseman Eric Campbell. Campbell saw the opportunity and began what should have been a routine 5-4-3 double play. They play should have ended with two outs and Yasiel Puig on third base. But that was not meant to be. After Mets first baseman Lucus Duda looked up from first base he saw the speedy and reckless Puig heading home. Duda turned towards home and fired to catcher Travis d’Arnaud who applied the tag on Puig. With that the Mets turned their first triple play in over four years.
