Mother Nature can be added to the list of people or entities that love Derek Jeter. With a 90 percent chance of rain and the possibility that the final home game in the illustrious career of The Captain could be rained out, the weather cleared and the Yankees faced the Baltimore Orioles.
There is not much doubt that Derek Jeter has lived a charmed life. Of course he worked hard and has done the right things, but it always seems that when he needs to step up then things just work out. You do not get the nickname “Mr. November” for nothing.
The debate will rage on for years to come as to whether Jeter is overrated or not. Personally, when you sit sixth all-time in career hits then that is “Nuff Said” but hey, that’s a debate for another day. Today is a day of honor. I tuned in to watch the final home game of a player I enjoyed for 20 years.
In classic Jeter fashion he did not disappoint. Jeter came to the plate in the bottom of the ninth with teh scored tied 5-5 and a runner on second. You can’t write stuff like this. You can only imagine what happened next

Television cameras caught The Captain repeatedly fighting back tears, heard fans pumping out “DER-EK JE-TER!” chants all night long. What a tremendous ending to an illustrious career. Its Derek Jeter so who would have expected anything less.
